A winter like back then ...

Snow away from the crowds
The Rösslwirt is geographically located on the southern slope of the Eisack Valley, right in the middle of renowned ski resorts such as the World Cup resort of Val Gardena - also a stopover on the famous 40-kilometre ski circuit around the Dolomite peaks, the "Sellaronda" - the Plose near Brixen or the Seiser Alm. But when the first flakes fall from the sky in Barbian, everything becomes quieter, slower and calmer ... So you could also consider taking your snowshoes or sledge and simply slowing down. How about a winter hike on the groomed trails across the wintry expanses of the Villanderer Alm and the Rittnerhorn? Instead of the hustle and bustle and lots of people, experience winter as it was back then. Including warm chocolate and a relaxing sauna session. How does that sound to your ears?

Alpe di Siusi ski area

A paradise for winter sports enthusiasts
The Seiser Alm is a very special ski area! The largest high alpine pasture in Europe covers an area of 56 square kilometers between the mountain peaks of Schlern, Langkofel and Plattkofel. A clear bonus for beginners and families: the 70 kilometers of pistes are spread over particularly wide and moderately steep slopes - perfect for practicing your first descents. And if you're hungry: we definitely recommend a visit to one of the rustic huts and restaurants, because South Tyroleans know that regional soul food is at home here!

On the toboggans, get set, go!

Winter magic on the Villanderer Alm
The Villanderer Alm toboggan run starts at the Gasserhütte hut and takes you through snow-covered forests with fantastic views of the Dolomites to the Mair in Plun hut. Real South Tyrolean delicacies await you here: dumplings, Kaiserschmarrn pancakes and roast onions - just like grandma used to make. While the kids romp around in the petting zoo, you can soak up the feeling of home.
And then it gets fast: 1.5 km of tobogganing fun that will delight families and nostalgics alike. South Tyrolean winter tradition at its best - put on your helmet and go!

Experience winter at a slower pace

Saltria cross-country ski trail on the Alpe di Siusi
A trip to the Seiser Alm is not only worthwhile for skiers, but also for cross-country skiers. A real favorite here is the Saltria circular trail, which has also hosted international competitions and leads from the mountain station south towards Goldknopf. The winding trail runs through a forest in short sections, but otherwise over the slightly hilly high plateau for which the Alpe di Siusi is so famous!
