The mountain world around Barbian is really something special: one of the most beautiful views of the Dolomites and the main Alpine ridge can be enjoyed from the Rittner Horn, our local mountain. The largest high alpine pasture in Europe, the Alpe di Siusi, is also not far away and leads deep into the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Dolomites. Experience a little more of our homeland at these places

The panoramic mountain Rittner Horn, where you can combine hiking with the "legendary". The "Legendary World of Toni" and a breathtaking 360° panoramic view of the Dolomites, the Ortler and the Ötztal and Zillertal Alps await you there. And all this is easily accessible with the cable car and after an hour's hike.

A hike from the Gasserhütte to the Latzfonser Kreuz may be long, but it scores points for its panoramic Alpine views and a few rustic refreshment stops at the Mair in Plun hut, the Almgasthof Am Rinderplatz, the Stöfflhütte or the Marzuner Schupfe. You can either take the hiking bus from Barbian on Mondays and Thursdays or drive about 10 kilometers uphill by car to the Gasserhütte parking lot

Here on the Sciliar, you can go on wonderful hikes and walks in the warm summer months and whizz down the slopes in winter, hiking and cross-country skiing on perfectly groomed paths and trails. And the best thing about it: the Hochalm can be reached from Barbian in no time at all. You can get from us to wherever it's beautiful anyway... but you already know that.

The rustic Rösslwirt alpine hut

Experience home up close every Wednesday

On the mountain pasture, there's no sin... they say in South Tyrol. What is certain is that there is definitely no stress on our Rösslwirt Alm. Karl and Hildegard, the senior bosses of the house, therefore invite you to the hut every Wednesday for a hearty alpine snack and a good drop of wine - outside, with an unobstructed view of the peaks and pinnacles of the Dolomites.

The hike to the mountain hut takes about an hour. You set your own pace - you can start at the "Huber Kreuz" parking lot, which you can easily reach with the "Torggler" village cab or with your own car.
